Established in 1991, The International Union of Materials Research Societies (IUMRS) is an international association consisting of 13 regional Materials Research Societies and 8 Institutional Affiliates, world-wide, dedicated to fostering and advancing interdisciplinary research in Materials Science, Technology and Engineering. The Union conducts regular international conferences, forums, and workshops and publishes international newsletters on the science and technology of materials to promote international cooperation and networking. The Materials Research Society of Korea(MRS-K) has been established on February 23, 1991 under industry·university·institute cooperation in order to contribute to the development of the domestic new material research using wide variety of knowledge in physics, chemistry, medicine, agriculture, medicine, etc. as well as activation of industry-university technology exchange in material science and engineering fields of metal, electromagnetic and new material. Under the above purpose of establishment, the society has published the first edition of its journal in June 1991 followed by monthly journals. Also, the society has been hosting two conferences (spring and fall) and an international conference of IUMRS every year and we hope to contribute to the growth of the technology and scholarship of the material science and engineering and the industry and to unite the membership among members of the society.
